Teaching Development Center Hosts Xingzhi Forum on Cultivating Translation Talents
On the afternoon of May 31st, theTeacher Development Center at the School of Foreign Languages organized aXingzhi Forum lecture in Conference Room 1508 of the Administration Building,with the theme "Exploring the Current Status and Training Directions ofLanguage Talents' Workplace Skills in the New Era." The guest speaker wasShi Shaofeng, the founder of 51tra.com. In attendance were Qian Huimin, theParty Secretary of the School of Foreign Languages, Deputy Deans Liu Jinlongand Du Lijuan, faculty members from the Translation Department including MaDezhong, Wu Yuanqiong, and Wang Mengyao, as well as undergraduate studentsmajoring in translation.
Shi Shaofeng provided an in-depthdiscussion on the diverse capabilities required by various enterprises andinstitutions for language professionals, using several multinationalcorporations as case studies to dissect the current job market's demand forlanguage talents in terms of tool proficiency, translation experience, andmanagement skills. He recommended that the training of translation talentsshould be goal-oriented, aligning with industry and workplace needs tocontinuously enhance students' comprehensive and competitive abilities ineducational practices.
This Xingzhi Forum has deepened theunderstanding of the School of Foreign Languages' faculty and studentsregarding the industry's development and talent demands. The School plans tocontinue hosting Xingzhi Forums, fostering collaboration with enterprises, andcommitting to improving the quality of talent cultivation. The goal is tocultivate and supply the industry with talents who are in sync with the timesand possess a comprehensive skill set.
