"Teaching Quality Month" at the School of Foreign Languages: "Outstanding Lesson" Successfully Held 

To implement theuniversity’s “Teaching Quality Month” initiative, advance the review andimprovement of undergraduate education and teaching assessment, and enhance thequality of foreign language teaching, the School of Foreign Languages isactively promoting the “Outstanding Lesson” activity.

 

On October 25th,the School of Foreign Languages arranged for teachers to observe a model lessongiven by Wu Yuanqiong, who won the first prize in the school's TeachingInnovation Competition. Wu's lesson focused on the theme of friendship versusprofessional ethics, exploring famous quotations and poems about friendshipfrom both Chinese and international sources. She taught the writing style of O.Henry, employing techniques such as euphemisms, puns, and the"thousand-mile clue" writing technique, as well as the distinctiveendings characteristic of O. Henry. Wu also conducted training for translationstudents in English listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translationskills, and compared artificial intelligence translation methods.

Sun Xiaoqingfrom the Department of Public Foreign Languages Teaching spoke on"Integrating Educational Insights into Foreign Language Teaching to FosterCollaborative Education through Science and Education." She drew on hertranslation research experience to discuss effective ways to link scientificresearch, curriculum, practice, ideological and political education, andservice in education.

Ye Hongwei fromthe Department of Applied Foreign Languages Teaching shared insights on"Techniques in Intelligent Machine Translation," focusing on the hottopic of intelligent translation. He introduced practical translationtechniques through case studies of intelligent translation.

Ma Dezhong fromthe Department of Translation Teaching discussed "The Future of the NetworkEconomy: Leveraging ChatGPT and Iclass for Educational Innovation,"exploring how technologies like ChatGPT and Iclass can drive teachinginnovation and empower teaching practices with artificial intelligence.

The School ofForeign Languages seized the opportunity of the Teaching Quality Month toimplement various activities, including revising the syllabi, conductingtraining in digitally enhanced teaching methods, and faculty classroomobservations. These efforts aim to continuously improve teaching managementeffectiveness, enhance the quality of foreign language education and teaching,and contribute to the development of foreign language talents withinternational perspectives and comprehensive abilities.
